This calling is clearly stated in God’s word (Heb. 3:1). What it means is that all Christians, as members of the body of Christ, will someday be glorified in body and taken to heaven to live there eternally with God their Father and Jesus Christ, the Son, who is their Lord and Savior. As the calling of the Jews is to be physically brought into their land and possess it as an eternal inheritance, so the church’s calling is to be brought to heaven and live there eternally. We have a heavenly citizenship (Phil. 3:20) – this means that heaven is our home and that we belong there. The rapture, the blessed hope of the church, is how God will fulfill this calling.
